Your 2026-27 Patagonia fly fishing scorecard
With just one month to go before another unforgettable Patagonia trout fishing season kicks off, there’s no time like the present to cement your 2026-27 trip. Here’s a rundown of the remaining options.
MAGIC WATERS LODGE
GOLD FILL = remaining availability
Given that Magic Waters is Chile’s most popular lodge, it’s no surprise that availability for this coming season is limited. But, that doesn’t mean a visit to our clients’ favorite lodge is out of the question. A handful of excellent options still exist — for now. If you’re considering heading south to experience some of the most diverse fishing and warmest hospitality in all of Patagonia, jump on these remaining dates before it’s too late.

EL ULTIMO PUESTO
GOLD FILL = remaining availability
The word is out about Patagonia’s newest destination, an exclusive walk-and-wade paradise on the outskirts of Torres del Paine National Park that welcomes just four anglers per week. El Ultimo Puesto offers access to over 30 miles of trophy trout water where dry fly fishing is always the first (and often only) approach. Located just steps from the lodge is the Puesto’s 20 mile-long spring creek, which is the sole domain of the lodge’s guests.

If you’re able to travel Dec 16-23 or Dec 23-29, 2026, you can sneak into the Puesto for some of the season’s best dry fly fishing. Though January is entirely sold out and February almost is, there’s still time to join artist Derek DeYoung’s hosted trip during the final week of February. Want to head to El Ultimo Puesto for its fall migration of big (and surprisingly aggressive) lake-run brown trout? March and April still have excellent availability.

PATAGONIA BAKER LODGE
GOLD FILL = remaining availability
Patagonia Baker Lodge, part of the Magic Waters family of lodges, is often referred to as “the most beautiful lodge in Patagonia” and we’d be hard-pressed to argue. The fact that it sits directly on the banks of Rio Baker, where brown trout up to 30-inches long swim under the gaze of the snow-capped Andes, is part of what makes the experience so special. Add in the excellent fishing on nearby lakes, sight-fishing on the famed Rio Cochrane, and a large menu of included non-angling activities and the lodge has something for almost everyone.

November and December are great months to be at the lodge and good availability remains during both months. Things are quite a bit skinnier January through March, but there are some scattered spots available, including one room left on our hosted couples trip in February.

RIVER OF DREAMS BASECAMP
GOLD FILL = remaining availability
If you’ve slept on planning your bucket-list fishing trip for the year, then the incomparable River of Dreams Basecamp — one of the biggest and best adventures in all of fly fishing — is a shining bright spot for you. In a typical year, by October, only a handful of spots remain at this backcountry oasis. Never look a gift horse in the mouth they say, and you shouldn’t.
The River of Dreams
November and December are two of our favorite months to be at basecamp (we like them better than the immensely popular months of January and February, in fact). If you’ve seen the short video we filmed at camp, all of it was filmed during November and early December. If peak summer is more your vibe, a big chunk of January just opened due to a cancellation and we still have a couple of February weeks you can jump into as well. There’s even still room during immensely popular fall months (March and April) at camp.

PATAGONIA RIVER GUIDES: SOUTH
GOLD FILL = remaining availability
Patagonia River Guides’ lodge in Trevelin (aka PRG South) is perennially one of the hardest tickets to punch anywhere trout swim on either side of the Andes. This year is an exception only in that there are still early season dates available to jump on.

If a 2027 visit is more suited to your calendar, you’ll need to look to migratory trout time in April, as January through March are fully booked. The good news is, there’s no wrong time to be at Trevelin — this is hands down some of the best and most diverse fishing in Patagonia.

PATAGONIA RIVER GUIDES: TRES VALLES
GOLD FILL = remaining availability
The Rio Pico region, home to PRG’s Tres Valles lodge is one of the wildest and most remote in all of Patagonia — lacking even a single paved road. Anglers fish a different river daily and can choose between five smaller rivers and eight spring creeks as well as the region’s lakes.
Tres Valles Lodge
In keeping with the theme seen all across Patagonia this season, spring in Rio Pico still has some great opportunities, while things tighten up or close off completely for the summer and fall months.

PATAGONIA RIVER GUIDES: NORTH
GOLD FILL = remaining availability
What makes Patagonia River Guides North particularly special, other than the fact that its anglers fish the classic trout water that put Patagonia on the map almost 80 years ago, is that it’s different than every other program in the region. Rather than staying at a single, traditional fishing lodge, PRG North anglers typically visit and stay at multiple historic, real working Patagonian estancias (ranches) during their trip. It’s a warm, authentic, and unique way to experience famed rivers like the Malleo, Collon Cura, Chimehuin, Limay and more.

Because every trip with PRG North is custom-built, it’s more difficult to share specific availability. Suffice it to say that if you’re interested in the PRG North experience this coming season, opportunities remain. Let’s chat.
