Your 2026 Fly Fishing Travel Planner
Where you need to be, and when in 2026
That escalated quickly, right? It's jarring to look at the calendar and realize that 2025 is fading fast. And, if you don't have your 2026 trip on the books by now, it's getting late in the game to make it happen. But take heart. We have some ideas for you, starting just a few short weeks away in January and continuing through December of next year. Read on for some suggestions that'll put you on the water at the right time and, more importantly, at the right place.

JANUARY
MOUSE-EATING BROWNS ON THE REMOTE RIO BLANCO
The best backcountry fishing trip in Patagonia starts after either a horseback or helicopter ride into the remote reaches of the Chile’s stunning Rio Blanco. Here, in the river’s emerald-green waters, massive brown trout gobble up skated mouse patterns, and tail-walking rainbows really show out. We still have room for the week of Jan. 10-17 at River of Dreams Basecamp. Interested? Let us know.

FEBRUARY
PERMIT AND BONES ON THE EXPANSIVE FLATS OF ASCENSION BAY
There’s no better place to go to escape winter’s coldest, darkest days than the stunning flats of Ascension Bay. And, as luck would have it, we still have some room for guests dreaming about a tropical escape to the Caribbean. Come visit our great partners at The Palometa Club Feb. 13-20, 2026, and experience the best flats fishing in the region. Drop us an email, and we’ll get your trip in ink!

MARCH
BUTTER-TINGED BROWNS AMID THE PEAKS OF PATAGONIA
March in Patagonia is the start of fall in the Andes, and it might be the best time of the year to be at Patagonia Baker Lodge. A trip to this stunning lodge many call “the most beautiful lodge in Patagonia” is a treat for dry-fly anglers and for fly fishers yearning to catch big, beautiful browns on the swing. We still have some prime March dates — like March 14-21 — open, so let us help you get to a trout paradise in March 2026.

APRIL
PRIMAL FISHING FOR THE JUNGLE TARPON OF BELIZE
Spring is when the fun-size jungle tarpon of coastal Belize crowd into the rivers and really put on a show. And, at the uber-convenient and super-homey Belize River Lodge, our clients are perfectly situated for a week of jungle tarpon fishing and stellar flats angling, too. We still have room for two anglers March 31-April 4, and again from April 18-25. Let us know soon, because these dates won’t last.

MAY
TAILWATER TROUT FISHING ON A STORIED MONTANA TREASURE
Montana’s Bighorn River is one of the most productive trout rivers in America, but, what most anglers don’t realize is that every year, anglers visiting the ‘Horn get an early start. By May, the lowland weather is usually pretty dependable, and dry-fly fishing is on. Come stay at River Rock Lodge right on the banks of the Bighorn, and notch your trophy brown or rainbow.

JUNE
A SCANDINAVIAN TROUT PARADISE HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT
For years, the trouty stretches of northern Iceland’s Blanda River have hidden under the radar, posing as a salmon and sea-trout river. But, as we’re finding out, this verdant and productive river is also a fantastic fishery for big resident brown trout and Arctic char. Visit our team at Long Valley Lodge in June, and take in this incredible fishery. Our exploratory trip last summer turned up a 30-incher. Send us a note, and we’ll get your Iceland adventure scheduled.

JULY
FLY-OUT FISHING FOR TROUT, GRAYLING, AND PIKE IN WILD B.C.
Northwest British Columbia is an incredible destination for anglers searching for a variety of fish. And, in July, the region’s chunky rainbows are on the prowl, and dry-fly fishing for these stunning trout is in full swing. For variety, anglers can fly out for surprisingly big Arctic grayling, massive northern pike, bull trout, lake trout, and even walleye. The folks at Northern Rockies Adventures offer great adventure at great value — drop us a line, and we’ll do our best to match our calendar to yours.

AUGUST
HOPPER SEASON ON MONTANA’S MIGHTY MISSOURI
High summer in Montana is “hopper time.” From the restive surroundings of On DeMark Lodge on the banks of the Missouri, guests can enjoy tangling with the river’s fabled browns and rainbows during one of the best times of the year. We still have good availability, but hopper season will fill up fast. Send us a note, and we’ll get your trip in the books.

SEPTEMBER
MASSIVE SEA TROUT FROM THE RIVERS OF SOUTHERN ICELAND
Every year, starting in late July and pushing through until October, the giant sea-run brown trout of the north Atlantic return to their natal streams for the fall spawning season and a winter spent resting up in the chilled waters of Iceland’s gorgeous, wild rivers. At Battle Hill Lodge, September is the prime month for Iceland’s sea-trout migration. Let us know if you’re interested, and we’ll reserve your room at the lodge.

OCTOBER
FALL FISHING ON THE BEST DRY-FLY RIVER IN AMERICA
A stay at the luxurious South Fork Lodge is an experience — it’s more than just fishing. And, in October, when the aspens and the cottonwood forest of the South Fork bottoms are ablaze in hues or gold and orange, the river’s native cutthroats, burly and rainbows, and legendary brown trout come out to play. Send us an email, and we’ll do our best to match open dates with your calendar.

NOVEMBER
A PERMIT HOTSPOT IN A CHILL CORNER OF THE CARIBBEAN
Base yourself in a spacious sea-side villa on the Mesoamerican Reef and spend a week trying outsmart Roatan’s plentiful permit, bonefish, and tarpon, all the while enjoying a peaceful and relaxing getaway far from the tourist-village chaos. At Ocean Breeze Lodge, the fishing is phenomenal. And so is everything else. Interested? Just let us know.

DECEMBER
DRY-FLY FISHING FROM PATAGONIA’S MOST ICONIC DESTINATION
A trip to Magic Waters Lodge is a sensory experience for every guest. From world-class angling for trophy trout to five-star dining, stunning Andean scenery, and family-focused hospitality, there’s no better place for a more complete Patagonian escape. December is the ideal time to take it all in. We can help you get there.
