Hosted Trip: Long Valley Lodge in Iceland — July 2026
The Blanda River system in northwest Iceland is one of the most exciting new fisheries in our catalog. As an historic north coast Atlantic salmon river, the Blanda has welcomed anglers for generation, who come in chase of its silver-sided quarry. Hiding in plain sight in its midst, however, is what appears to be one of the most promising brown trout fisheries you'll find anywhere.
We first visited Long Valley Lodge this past July and we're headed back next July to explore the potential of this system. The week will be spent chasing five different fly rod targets: resident Arctic char, sea-run Arctic char, resident brown trout, sea trout (sea-run brown trout) and, of course, Atlantic salmon.
If you'd like to join us to experience this exciting, dynamic fishery, check out all of the trip details below.
We'll be heading to Iceland July 9-15, 2026, to fish the Blanda River, it's main tributary the Svartá and possibly some other area rivers and streams, as well. Anglers will enjoy a mix of Atlantic salmon fishing, trout fishing, and also take experience Iceland's only float-based trout fishing.

Blönduós
Long Valley Lodge
The Blanda River, in northwestern Iceland, differs starkly from most of its Icelandic counterparts. Most rivers on the island nation flow through relatively sterile landscapes on often short, punctuated runs. By contrast, the Blanda is one of the longest rivers in the country, flowing for over 75 miles from its origin at the Hofsjökull glacier to where it meets the North Atlantic Ocean at Húnaflói Bay near the town of Blönduós.
