'The best trip I've ever done.'
Our promise to you remains unchanged: every destination in our catalog is one that we've visited and experienced personally and, based on that experience, recommend with confidence. We've made the trek, we've slept in the beds, we've eaten the food, we've fished the water, we've hiked the trails, and so on.
But that doesn't mean that you have to take only our word for it.
“The trip was incredible! Other than my earlier life of white-water paddling and camping, this was the best trip I've ever done. Every crew member was always where they were expected to be, on time, and always with a happy, awesome attitude. And when a crew member didn't have a job to do, they were gone. No noise, no fuss, just not there. However, every crew member had a planned opportunity to interact with the passengers. So we felt as though we knew them. It was an amazing thing actually.
Over and over we were told that this is our trip, and that is exactly what you come away feeling. In my opinion, it is because of this top-down, amazingly organized, tight functioning crew who made us feel very special. We loved all of them.
But we were special in that we (all us passengers) got along really well and it was sunny the entire time and we saw so many humpback whales! Everyone, every day, actively enjoyed wonderful excursions and laughed about it all at dinner.”
That's a note we recently received from Hatch Adventure Travel client Glenn Hirsch, who was blown away by her trip this August aboard the Mist Cove, one of the two motor vessels to choose from when booking a voyage with The Boat Company.
Another of our clients, Virginia Hermann, who cruised aboard The Boat Company vessel, The Liseron, had this to say about her adventure in Southeast Alaska:
"The crew and Capt. Cliff were amazing, the food absolutely delicious (though I don't want to weigh myself when we get home) and the weather was great. We saw a huge glacier calving, 20 bears at the hatchery and a sow and cub on the flats. The eagles were abundant and the whales put on several shows for us too. Thank you so much for all your help! Truly the trip of a lifetime."
And Glenn and Virginia aren't alone. Just the other day, we also received this note from Amory Mellen, who also toured Alaska's Inside Passage on the M.V. Mist Cove this August:
We had an absolutely fantastic trip – exceeded every expectation. I would definitely say it was one of the top three trips we’ve ever had if not the best. The boat and crew were fantastic and never felt for one second that we wanted for anything. The crew / guest ratio and the number of skiffs allowed for all the guests to do what activities we wanted without conflict. The boat was well appointed but not over the top which just made it feel comfortable and inviting. We were blessed with some of the best weather you could ask for and the whale sightings were off the charts. Caught a lot of fish too!
Can’t recommend it enough.
Exploring the Tongass National Forest and Alaska's Inside Passage on one of The Boat Company's two, unique, intimate small ships is an experience unlike any other — and while it's one we're accustomed to our guests gushing about, we never get tired of hearing it.

The Inside Passage
The Boat Company
Board one of two unique small touring vessels — don’t call them cruise ships, because that’s not what they are — for a weeklong adventure through southeast Alaska’s storied Inside Passage, the route plied by European explorers as they searched for the unattainable Northwest Passage in the late 1700s. This isn’t your average “cruise” — it’s an experience like no other, and it’s the perfect way to see everything America’s largest national forest has to offer.
