Cuba Hosted Trips 2025
A GRAND SLAM HOT SPOT
Our promise to our clients remains unchanged: if a destination makes its way into our catalog, it’s because we’ve experienced it first hand. We’ve made the journey, we’ve fished the water, we’ve spent time with the guides and staff, and we’ve eaten the food and slept in the beds. Keeping this promise involves regularly embarking on visits to new destinations, and in early 2025, we’re inviting a handful of anglers to join us on our latest adventure.
Cayo Cruz is one of Cuba’s best kept secrets. Despite the fact that the program is entering its 12th year, many anglers are just learning about this grand slam hot spot, its oversized permit, its hefty bonefish, and its seemingly endless, white sand flats.
This February and March, we’ll be headed to Cayo Cruz to ply those flats, not just for permit and bonefish, but for tarpon, barracuda, jack crevalle, mutton snapper, cubera and more.
Our visit and time on the flats will help support research, monitoring, conservation and sustainable use projects carried out by Cuban biologists, international scientists and conservationists developing a grassroots community-based environmental humanitarian project.

PERMIT + BONEFISH
One of the things that distinguishes Cayo Cruz from other saltwater destinations is the ability for anglers to target both tailing permit and large bonefish in the same location. Permit average between 8 and 30 pounds and, at Cayo Cruz, a day when you don’t encounter and get shots at permit are a rarity. Bonefish average 4 pounds and guests often land bonefish in the 8 to 10 pound range. Tailing bonefish are common and anglers can expect encounters with both large schools, small schools and singles.
TARPON
Though tarpon are not one of the main attractions at Cayo Cruz, there are multiple locations within the region that offer very good fishing for tarpon between 30 and 100 pounds. Generally, the guides preserve these areas for when an angler has boated bonefish and permit in the same day and are looking to complete a grand slam.
LODGING
We’ll enjoy all-inclusive lodging at a modern resort hotel in Cayo Cruz, featuring multiple pools (rooftop and ground-level), a spa, a welcoming bar, spacious and brightly lit dining area, and even a game room complete with pool table and bowling alley. No roughing it, no cramped motherships.
WELCOME PARTY + CULTURAL TOUR
We’ll begin our time in Cuba with an day in the Cuban city of Camiguey. We’ll travel through the city in Cuba’s famed classic cars, tour the UNESCO-listed historic center of the city, and cap the night off with a welcome party that includes a pig roast, a Cuban band and dancers, and a visit from a cigar roller. Our host for the welcome party, Boris, is one of three Máster Internacional Habanos Sommelier’s in Cuba. He will give a short presentation about the cigars of Cuba — as well as a tasting with Cuban rum, chocolate, coffee and American bourbon paired with cigars later in the week.
