Best solo-angler trip: Lodge-based fly fishing
Dalton Trail Lodge
Fishing lodges in North America almost solely cater to the “double-occupancy” crowd — anglers who arrive in pairs, share a room or a cabin and share a boat and a guide. If you want to fish alone, or if you just to sleep in a room without a snoring fishing buddy, it’s going to cost you extra in most cases.
But not all cases. One of our clients’ favorite destinations for trout, pike and grayling does not charge the dreaded single-angler surcharge to guests arriving at the lodge alone. In fact, everybody who comes to Dalton Trail Lodge in the Yukon does so at the same base rate. What’s more, everybody fishing from Dalton Trail Lodge gets their own private room with a private bathroom.
Now, one disclaimer: your rate is the same as anyone else’s rate, but you may be paired with another angler on any given day. But, after a day spent casting to trophy northern pike, tailwalking rainbows, Arctic grayling that dance in the sun and surly lake trout, you’ll come back to the lodge each evening to your own private space.
At Dalton Trail, you’ll enjoy three meals a day, excellent service and hospitality and the chance to chase a variety of fish across the absolutely stunning environs of the southern Yukon. And, whether you fish with a buddy or show up and plan the ultimate solo trip, your rate doesn’t change. Check this out:
